About the AFGR
Founded in 2009, The Architectural Foundation of Greater Rochester (AFGR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate architecture by serving as a cultural, artistic and business resource for the Rochester, New York region. We are headquartered in historic Warner Castle in Highland Park where we share space and synergies with AIA Rochester and The Landmark Society of Western New York.
Scholarship Program
The AFGR and AIA Rochester, in conjunction with AIA National, Bergmann Associates, Women in Architecture, the Family of Myron Starks, and the Legacy Fund, annually award merit-based scholarships to high school seniors and college students pursuing architecture at the university level. A total of $15,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students each of the past several years. The annual AFGR/AIA Rochester Golf Tournament benefits the scholarship fund each September.

Community & Education
Additionally, the AFGR has provided support for other community and educational endeavors including AIA Rochester's temporary Centennial Installation projects in Midtown Commons, the AIA Rochester-led Girls in Architecture and Women in Architecture programs, and the AIAS chapters for architecture students at both RIT and Alfred. The AFGR has provided study materials housed in the AIA Rochester library that can be used free of charge by future architects taking their licensing examinations.
