EDUCATION

The RAF supports school instructional programs and community presentations..  For the 2023/2024 school year RAF is implementing its pilot program with Rochester Prep. The goal of the program is to expand career opportunities for young people from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds by providing:

  • An introduction at the secondary school level to the profession of architecture

  • A scholarship to post-secondary education and

  • An internship at a regional professional firm.

RAF was able to initiate this program with two small from current and past board members and is seeking additional support to sustain and enhance it.

SCHOLARSHIP

Through scholarships to rising professionals, the RAF supports annual scholarships awarded by AIA Rochester.  RAF administers the funding for the  Women in Architecture and the Family of Myron Stark’s Scholarships. The RAF has also established an endowment fund called the "Architects of the 21st Century Legacy Fund" whose goal is to build a sustainable endowment for the growth of the AIA Rochester Scholarship program.  RAF has funded merit-based scholarships for high school seniors and college students pursuing architecture at the university level. Over the past several years, up to $20,000 in scholarships has been awarded annually through the scholarship program.

ART IN ARCHITECTURE

The Rochester Architecture Foundation supports art initiatives that enrich the public realm. Both existing and new buildings can provide the context for a dialogue between art and architecture. The Foundation partners with property owners and other like-minded funding organizations in bringing "Art in Architecture" installations to fruition.
